BIOGRAPHY
Professor Olaf Peters teaches Art History at the Martin-Luther-University in Halle (Saale), Germany. He has an expertise in German art at the beginning of the 20th century including expressionism, new objectivity, the art politics of the “Third Reich” and German art until ca. 1970. Furthermore he is interested in the history of art history. He has published books on new objectivity and national socialism, Max Beckmann and Otto Dix (e.g. “Otto Dix. Der unerschrockene Blick. Eine Biographie”, Stuttgart 2013) and created several exhibitions including “Degenerate Art: The Attack on Modern Art in Nazi Germany, 1933,” (Neue Galerie New York, 2013) and “Berlin-Metropolis 1918-1933” (Neue Galerie New York 2015).
